For those who like maudlin comedy, no matter how cheesy it gets, then this is quality watching. Trussed up in a wedding mise en scene, 27 Dresses (written by The Devil Wears Prada screenplay creator Aline Brosh McKenna) is the stereotypical plotline of skirt meets boy, can’t have him, tries to get him, definitively does and then wants another boy.
Jane has been a bridesmaid 27 another times and yet never gotten married. At one of the dos, she loses her filofax, which is picked up by Kevin, a untiring journalist who bugs her to go out with him. At the same sometimes, she is in love with her boss, George, who falls for her sister, Tess and then her - all too belatedly.
Although romantic comedy can be light-hearted and much fun, giving you a feelgood aftermath when you need it. This one is sadly, boringly run-of-the-mill. With both unenticing acting and and an equally unenticing plotline, it would have been better being sent straightforward to video.
